About the Course
Have you been wondering about spinning, weaving, or felting? I will offer a series of introductory hands-on fiber arts classes on these and other topics on a rotating basis. I will have all the supplies and equipment and some basic instructions for you to try out these crafts before you invest in your own equipment or more extensive classes. These classes are appropriate for ages 10 and up, so you can bring your child if they are interested as well.
October 5: Spinning. Make wool into yarn by spinning on drop spindle or spinning wheel. You won't get proficient in an hour and a half, but you can try out various types of spindles and wheels and get a feel for what the craft is like.
October 12: Needle Felting. Needle felting is a great activity to relieve stress. Learn this fun craft while making a Halloween decoration. Good for participants age 12 and up. I provide all the supplies. (cost is $35)
October 19: Wet felting. Make a small bowl by wet felting around a resist (sometimes I use an orange!)
October 26: Eco-printing. Learn the process of eco-printing with fall leaves. We will have time to do a small muslin square or handkerchief.
For November 2: Weaving. Test drive a variety of looms. I will have my table, floor, and rigid heddle looms warped and ready to go. Try out some weaving and see what you like.
